M.52
All-electric autonomous mower that frees crews for higher-value work
The Scythe M.52 is an all-electric, fully autonomous commercial mower built by Scythe Robotics, a Colorado-based developer of autonomous landscaping equipment (acquired by Autonomous Solutions, Inc. in March 2026). It is a 52-inch ride-on-class machine in the autonomous commercial mower category, purpose-built for professional grounds maintenance and landscape contractors.
52-inch side-discharge deck, 1.5-2 acres/hour productivity
Scythe Sight: 8 HDR cameras, 2 IMU, GNSS, 12 ultrasonic sensors
Up to 6.5 mph (10.5 km/h) autonomous top speed
All-electric with all-day battery and 6-8 hr charge at 240V
Stops for people and pets; navigates around trees and poles
What it does
The M.52 cuts grass on its own using Scythe's onboard computer-vision system, Scythe Sight, which combines 8 HDR cameras, 2 IMUs, GNSS, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for intelligent 360-degree coverage. An operator drives the perimeter of a Mow Zone once to map it; the machine then mows that zone autonomously at up to 6.5 mph, navigating around fixed obstacles such as trees and poles while stopping for people and pets. It runs all-electric with all-day battery life, a 52-inch side-discharge deck, adjustable 1.5-to-6-inch cut height, and a productivity of 1.5 to 2 acres per hour, and it can also be operated manually.
Where it's used
The M.52 is deployed by commercial landscape contractors and municipalities for grounds maintenance on large-acreage properties. Scythe has rolled the machine out across U.S. markets including Colorado, Texas, Florida, and Ohio, building over 100 next-generation units for its 2024 season. Contractors use it to mow open turf autonomously while crews focus on detail work such as trimming and edging, with landscape firms citing it as a way to address labor shortages and take on larger-acreage jobs.
Why operators choose it
Mows large turf areas autonomously so crews redeploy to higher-value detail work
All-electric drivetrain cuts fuel use and lowers maintenance versus gas mowers
Computer vision stops for people and pets and avoids fixed obstacles
One-time perimeter mapping lets the machine repeat a Mow Zone each visit
Fleet management and field support keep machines productive across job sites
