Yanshee is a programmable educational humanoid robot from UBTECH Robotics, a Chinese maker of consumer and education robots. Standing roughly 380 mm (about 15 inches) tall with 17 servo-driven joints, it is built as an open-source platform for teaching AI, coding and robotics. It targets high-school and university students as well as R&D and experimentation.

What it does
Yanshee runs on an onboard Raspberry Pi and exposes an open-source software stack programmable in Blockly, Python, C/C++, Java and Perl, so learners can progress from block-based to text-based coding on one device. Its 17 servos enable full-body humanoid motion, while an onboard camera, microphone and AI interface support facial recognition, image recognition and voice recognition. A suite of sensors (gyroscope, infrared, temperature, humidity and pressure) lets students build projects that read and react to their environment, and the companion Yanshee App provides motion control and programming.

Yanshee is designed for AI and STEM education in high schools and universities, where it is used in robotics courses, coding classes, STEM labs and research-oriented experimentation.
